Thank you again to the EAT Foundation, for bringing Elementary- Middle- and High- School teachers to our site. The 26 educators were introduced to the disease surveillance activities of the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System by Dr. Pat Blanchard. They heard an overview of the preparation for Veterinary School and the training that UC Davis gives to its students, from Dr. Terry Lehenbauer.
They visited our Milk Quality and DNA laboratories and heard from Kathy Glenn and Jennifer Crook. EAT Foundation brought teachers from as far away as Los Angeles and Orange County this year.
E.A.T. stands for “Education and Agriculture Together”. The E.A.T. Foundation is a non-profit foundation operated by volunteers established by the Kings County Farm Bureau with the mission “To provide educators with hands-on learning in food and fiber production, agriculture technologies, and the protection of natural resources so that they are inspired to teach future generations about how vital agriculture and rural stewardship are to a healthy society.”
