Mission Statement

There is a critical need for a mechanism of performing rapid response, applied research on dairy herd health and on-farm food safety problems. In addition, a laboratory that has a primary focus on the dairy producer is necessary for both undergraduate and graduate training, and to serve as a hub around which collaborative efforts in research in information dissemination revolve on a daily basis. Therefore, the DFSL's mandate is to provide a consistent, rapid response applied research on herd health and food safety questions as they arise.
